About Plan Check Correct
Plan Check Correct helps contractors and owner-builders answer building permit correction letters and draw permit site plans. It's built and run by Dahlstrom Technologies LLC in San Clemente, California.
What the tool does
You upload or paste the correction letter from your building department. Plan Check Correct explains each comment in plain English, names the code section behind it, drafts a response for every item with the sheet where the change goes, and gives you a checklist of what to draw and what to install before inspection. If you load your plan PDF, it adds revision clouds, delta tags and notes where you mark each change. The free site plan maker draws a scaled site plan in your browser and exports a print-ready PDF.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't replace an architect, engineer or other licensed professional. Work that needs stamped calculations or a licensed designer is flagged as a task for you.
- It doesn't guarantee approval. The building department decides what its code requires and whether your plans meet it.
- It's instructed not to make up measurements or calculations, and leaves unknown values blank for you to fill in. AI drafts can still be wrong or incomplete, so review everything before you submit it.
How the AI is used
The correction letter, any pages you upload for reading, and your project details are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to draft the answers. Your clean plan set stays in your browser and isn't sent to the AI. Projects are saved in your browser unless you create an account and choose to save them there. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How we write our guides
- Our guides are written for the people who answer correction letters: contractors, designers and owner-builders.
- When a guide relies on a specific code section, state law or building department rule, we check it against the original source, such as the model codes published by the International Code Council, state statutes and agency guidance, or the department's own handout, and most guides link to the sources they rely on.
- We say where a requirement comes from, because states and cities adopt the model codes with their own changes.
- Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
